SHAKA GETS THE ZOOMIES

Shaka is a super low key girl. At home she enjoys snoozing, sunbathing, cuddling and chewing on her knuckle bones. When we go out, which is usually hiking, she spends 95% of the time trotting along a few feet in front of me or behind me, mostly ignoring those crazy puppies as the zoom back and forth and all around. But usually one time per outing, around the middle of our walk, she gets the super-MEGA zoomies. It only lasts a couple minutes, then she goes back to being miss cool, calm and collected. But it is awesome to watch her let loose!

Yee-Haw!

Phew, that's enough of that silliness.

We could have stayed there all day...it was perfect!

But it was time to head out and head home.

Last, but not least.

  1. Athena gets the zoomies often inside and outside! The frequency of her zoomies have definitely decreased since we first brought her home. I used to hate it when she did zoomies because I knew that it meant she was going to also jump up and nip at us in the process. Now she has much more control during her zoomies and is able to do them without doing more jumping up. She has also almost totally eliminated the nipping+zoomies behavior which I am SO happy about!

It's funny because I had no idea what a zoomie was until I adopted Athena and now I know that they are totally normal for dogs to have! Zoomies are the pittie specialty!

It's funny that Shaka has to get in one round of zoomies while on her walk! I bet Athena would do this too if we had somewhere to walk her off-leash =)

    1. I definitely think it's a pittie specialty! Luckily my dogs have never gotten into the indoor zoomies...maybe because my apartment is the size of a shoebox:/

  3. What amazing pictures! I've enjoyed my brief (too brief) visit here on the company's time and am so glad Our Waldo Bungie sent me. I will definitely be back.

  4. Oh I love when I'm able to hike with the dogs off leash. What a beautiful spot you have! I would like to adopt a second dog within the next year or so and I hope I can find a pitbull dog that can be trusted off leash like my lab mix.

    1. Oh, they are definitely out there, but maybe it takes patience to find one! I found Shaka on the streets and she has probably the best temperament of any dog I've met and listens better than my 2 off leash. A chihuahua went after her face on 1 of our hikes. It actually bit her and swung from her lip for a second. Bur she stood there as if nothing was even happening. In minutes the little dog was playing with all 3 of my dogs and the owner said it was the first time in 10 years that the dog had interacted with big dogs!

In many ways she was my dream dog and it was so sad to give her up, but at least I know she'll have a happy life from now on:)
