MY COMRADES & PROTECTORS

I've been meaning to write this funny post for so long and being as how we're almost out of this apartment forever, it's a good a time as any!

So long apartment...

My apartment building consists of 7 units built by dividing up an old mansion. So naturally, it has a big basement, and this is where the laundry and storage is. But it's scary. And it's even scarier when I've been watching The Walking Dead or Paranormal Activity. In addition to that, I almost always end up doing my laundry at night.

Kaya likes The Walking Dead too!

Gina is apparently not scared by Paranormal Activity like I am...

Luckily, I always have company whenever I go down there. Even if they're dead asleep and it's 3 in the morning, everyone leaps to attention when they hear me open the back door. That includes the curious cat.

And boy is there a lot to investigate down there. They would probably love to spend hours sniffing around, but personally I like to keep my time down there as brief as possible.

If the dog next door is outside, he is a serious fence barker, but no one minds...the basement investigation awaits!

A few times, I've run into my neighbors down there and they always think it's hilarious that the whole crew has to join me.

Gina is always the last one out. One time I put a load in the washer and came back an hour later to move it to the dryer and as I opened the basement door, Gina was still inside! She wasn't even in a hurry to get out, but from then on I always made sure she was not stuck down there!

Does anyone else have a freaky basement and do your critters join you when you go in it?

  1. Edison is definitely the self-proclaimed protector of the house. While I hate that he barks whenever anyone passes by, I secretly love that he is telling "bad guys" to stay out!

    1. I know what you mean, Kaya barks when people come to the door(or gate in the case of my apartment) and though I like it that she may deter bad guys, I think I am going to teach her to zip it at our new house. I think in a real life break in situation she would bark anyways:)

  2. Ha! We don't have a creepy basement, but I've had to deal with that in other apartments. I would always do my laundry in the middle of the day since I was too much of a wimp to go down there at night!

  3. I've been lucky enough not to have to go in a basement to do my laundry... if I did have to do that it would be in broad daylight and I would not only have my dogs with me but I'd be on the phone with someone so they could call for help if I needed it... can you tell I'm a big chicken?
